Feeling down or sad some of the time is part of normal human experience.  Sometimes this can be a response to life events or change, or it may be that having a problem that seems unsolvable begins to make you feel down.  Certainly, the loops of negative thinking that we can get stuck in at such times contribute to these feelings and can make it really hard to enjoy life.  There are a number of feelings that may indicate that this has become a problem - anxiety and worry, loss of energy or interest, boredom, restlessness, irritability, anger, constantly procrastinating and being indecisive, pessimism and self-criticism. Maybe you don't sleep well, eat well, and can't be bothered exercising - all of which can contribute to the negative cycle.

Most people have some of these experiences occasionally.  Mindfulness practice and hypnosis can help you work constructively with low moods.  By exploring your feelings - what is happening in the present moment - you can avoid getting stuck in these feelings.

If you have been diagnosed with clinical depression or when low mood becomes a real problem for you, getting in the way of daily activities and enjoyment of life, it is best to consult first with your GP or mental health professional.  Mindfulness as well as hypnotic relaxation and visualization can be a helpful complementary therapy to medical treatment, but please seek approval from your doctor.
